Invitations and app visibility

Public, invite-only or private: what each means for who can open your app and who can sign up, and how invitations work.

App visibility answers one question: who can open the app once it is published? It is set under Settings › Preferences and again on the Publish panel.

Your app's share links reflect the choice: on an invite-only or private app they ask for a sign-in first.

Invitations

An invitation creates the account in invited status and emails the person a set-your-password link from your app's own sender. When they set a password, or sign in with Google using the same address, the account becomes active.

  • Sending one: from your app's own admin screens. Ask the builder for a Team or Members page with an invite form; it uses the platform's invite call with the role and an optional message.
  • Resending or withdrawing: under Users › Pending invites in the dashboard. Withdrawing stops the link working; the person can still sign up on their own if the app allows it.

Changing visibility later

Change it any time under Settings. Making an app invite-only does not remove existing accounts; it stops new self-registration. Making it private locks everyone but you out until you change it back.

Public app, private data. Most apps are public and keep the private parts behind sign-in and permissions. Choose invite-only for a team tool and private while you are still building.
